Error when adding folder to database

When I add my music folder (with 22.800 files) to the database, the import works fine (takes up to 30 minutes to load though). After closing down FD, I get this error:



And ofcourse, the last 30 minutes of work are gone....

When I try to reproduce this with a smaller folder, it works fine.

You probably have a file with some very special characters in it and FD can't save it, or it may simply be a small error which we already corrected.
Are you using version 1.0.7 of Mobile DJ Mix? (the latest)
Anyway, we are releasing a new version of Mobile DJ Mix most likely next week -- you might want to try again with that version.
Also, if you want to help us solve the problem try to find out on what folder (directory) the problem appears.

The fun thing here is that I do NOT use Mobile DJ Mix but Future Decks Pro version 1.5.1

Mobile DJ Mix is just a OEM Product like B-DJ, unfortunately the programmer has forgot to rename the shared code components.
If you add you're songs at these software, you will get the same message.

Yes, that was indeed the case, but the actual message is in the xml language file, not in the application itself.
We corrected it. However, the message itself is still valid, meaning that there is something wrong on that computer since the software is not allowed to write the database file.

The problem is to save the imported files to %USERPROFILE%\FutureDecks Data\...
Case 1: Program Error > You can Save a small Amount of Songs.
Case 2: Write Permission > You can't save anything.

XML is nice to store config, but it is aren't made for large music database
How about Sqlite ? small footprint,fast,public domain,platform independent

Another option for a database is firebird

Yes, of course...
The embedded version of Firebird is also a good choice,but SQLite is a real lightweight.

SQLite engine/database files can be up to 10 times smaller than Firebird.
On the other hand, Firebird databases cannot be copied between machines with differing byte orders or alignment restrictions.
To move a Firebird database between platforms you have to back it up on the old platform then restore it on the new platform.

I've wrote: "When I try to reproduce this with a smaller folder, it works fine." If the software is not allowed to write to the database, it shouldn't matter which size it is.

Again: importing a smaller folder works fine, importing a larger folder gives me this message.

I have imported the total folder by doing it in bits. There were no files that were conflicting, so all files are eventually imported. But it is still reproducable if I create a new playlist and import the complete (large) folder.
