Re: [Official] Wish List - Karaoke with FD Pro

Postby wavelow » Thu Apr 08, 2010 5:49 am

FutureDecks can play Videoclips in many formats like avi, mpg etc. This is a good feature to make karaokeshows also with FD Pro. Only one problem:

Karaokevideos are recorded very often in "Multiplex" audio. This means: on the left audio channel are the playback without vocals, on the right audio channel are the playback with vocals (for help unsure singers to find the melody). But this is not a standard, the vocal channel can recorded on the left channel also. Or the production has no vocal track and is recorded in stereo (only the playback is recorded without any vocals).

This are the reasons why "Karaokemachines" have a "Mulitplex Switch" or better a "Mulitplexfader". The "Multiplex Switch/Fader" switched the right channel of a videotrack to both Master Out channels, or the left videotrack channel to both master out channels. And the 3. function is: both channels are routed to both master out.

When you can integrate this small feature, than FutureDecks is a great Karaokemachine too.

- The added pitch with the - and + buttons visible in the "added" pitch box. (0.00 is the original bpm, the pitch bend box displays the added pitch on top of the original)
- Master gain actually letting no sound through when on 0%

More consistent support on the forums!! :P .

-Option of more timecode vinyls.
-FLAC support (because itunes is never gonna bring it in  )
-More regular updates - I use reaper and have never seen it not be updated for more than 14 days...even if they're just minor bug fixes, I'm starting to lose confidence that you guys really care about the program. It's getting so good in 2.0, will be a challenger to the big guns soon!
-Non-static skins.
-Better communication between company and customers.

Better customer service was promised us lots and lots of times, seeing that it didn't improve those years, I'm quite sure it's not becoming any better in the near future.
Next to that I think xylio doesn't sell that many copies of fdp and fdl to be profitable. And I guess thats why the cusomer service is so poor. The funny thing is though, that most b-dj users left because of this poor service, which could have been future users of fdp if xylio would actually kept in touch with them.
Xylio is currently digging is own grave with the current vision on how things should be done.

You speak the truth Xeno...

Problem is they need to listen to us! Look at Reaper - that beast is only coded by something like 5 people, ever since version 1, but because they have such an amazing customer service - a feature request is almost guaranteed to end up in a future version of the program, and they update the program so much, people are gaining awareness and switching to it because it's not like the other faceless companies where nothing gets done about bugs, and customer service is poor. I see the owner of cockos (the company behind reaper) on the Reaper forums every couple of days helping people out and telling people about the status of feature requests. We have glimpses of that here, but then it's gone again.

I look at Xylio and I see a lot of similarities between them and the devs of Reaper. Xylio could turn FDP into an extremely profitable product rivalling traktor and vdj and all the other DJ software dominating the market right now. They just need a better update routine, much better customer service - especially whilst it's still a relatively small user base, and to listen to the feature requests we're putting in. We are the people who use the product regularly, we know what we'd like to see to make it even better. It's still relatively young - version 2, other software is on version 6 etc - and already FDP is a rival to this software that has been around much longer.

Version 1.5 saw a complete change in FDP, that brought about so many good things and restored so much of my faith in the people at Xylio. Version 2 for me has just been rock solid, simple, easy to use, reliable, extremly quick and responsive and powerful - and there are so many great things that are there. Xylio really turned all the issues around in that all the stability issues, reliability worries, having to turn off antivirus and internet to have a hope of it surviving are gone! Hats off to them for that.

I just really wish they would improve their customer service drastically - keep it's userbase informed of what's going on, let us know when updates are coming, what will be in them and stick to that date! It's not like there are hundreds of posts on this forum every day, it would take a dev about 10 minutes to work through the fresh posts every day with the size of the current user base. If the customer service were to become much better, faith in the devs behind FDP and faith that we are being listened to, and are respected as customers of their company, and what we want to see is implemented in the program, then we are onto a winner with FDP. If they had great customer service, and were pushing out regular updates that brought bugfixes, new features etc - I would feel much happier going out into clubs and on other forums and recommending the software.

Profit comes in to the companies that show they respect and take care of their customers, I wish xylio would take that on board!

- Master Gain not distorting when on 100% //fixed by adding a limiter on the master channel in the FX section
- By pressing the scratch knob, activating scratch on the jogwheels

- Track rating (ability to write it into the ID3 Tags)
- Dragable tracklist (change the order of the different tags e.g. title, artist by dragging them left and right with the mouse) -edit: this was already mentioned earlier in this thread -> page 1
