FutureDecks Pro version 1.3.3 released (UPDATED)

The official announcements from Xylio.

FutureDecks Pro version 1.3.3 released (UPDATED)

Postby vim » Fri May 08, 2009 1:18 am

UPDATE (July 11th):
We have just released an update yesterday on version 1.3.3.
This update fixes problems with video quality on Windows (both OpenGL and DirectX).
If you are using video I strongly recommend you to re-download version 1.3.3 and install it.
_______________

version 1.3.3 released
Sorry for the delay (on the delay) but here it is finally version 1.3.3 (don't ask about what happened to 1.3.2 :) )

What's new/changed (since 1.3.1):
- lots of stability improvements
- completely changed equalizer for much better audio quality and precision
- greatly improved audio latency (Windows only)
- minor performance optimizations
- video stability improved
- improved drag&drop (you can drop files directly on a specific list or directly to the deck's screen or jog-wheel)
- click on BPM value to edit (good for skins that don't have a BPM Edit button)
- crossfader curve setting in config window
- option to disable scratching when playing for some controllers (Hercules)
- changed structure of saved data/playlists/settings
- disabling screensaver while running
- several bugs corrected related to all controllers
- Hercules controllers can now be used to browse/load songs
- fixed loading OGG files
- fixed loading of very large files
- fixed a very serious crash when analyzing/loading files

I really think you will find it much better than the last version (at least in terms of stability)

P.S. to upgrade, simply re-download the software from the original link (received when you bought the software)
update: we released both Windows and Mac versions, including demo versions

Please note that due to a major change in the software you will probably need to re-make the lists/database.
You can put the old data back by renaming and moving some files but it's a bit complicated.

Please explain as I don't want to have to add 40,000 songs again and then have to re analize them all

Yes Vim, explain the change in details, please... Is it necessary to re-analize all songs ?

No, as said you don't have to lose anything, but it's a bit tricky (at least for beginners).
Also, this modification was done in this version only, but it will not change again in future versions.
The internal data in all the files has NOT changed, so absolutely no data will be lost if you follow the instructions as they are.

1). You should first make a backup of the initial "FutureDecks Data" folder and then delete it. Install and run the new version then close it (without doing anything in it). You need to do this (run the software once) so that FutureDecks re-makes the folder structure -- so you don't have to do it yourself. You can and you should however delete all the files (but leave all the folders in place) to make it easier for the next step.
Everything is saved (as it was before) in the "C:\Documents and Settings\vim\FutureDecks Data" on Windows or "/Users/user/FutureDecks Data" on Mac.

2). You have to overwrite some files now (from the backup to the new setting folder).
All the playlists/settings/etc are now saved in distinct folders with this structure:

- Database -- in here you must copy the database files -- move here/overwrite the files: "db.fdx", "lists.fdx", "list1.fdl", "list2.fdl", "list3.fdl"; Even if you have more files (like "list4.fdl",etc) do NOT copy/move them here. Now, rename the following files like this: "list1.fdl" to "Database.fdl", "list2.fdl" to "History.fdl", "list3.fdl" to "Explorer.fdl"

- Playlists -- move here all the files starting with "list4.fdl" (eg. "list4.fdl", "list5.fdl", "list6.fdl" ... and so on). Open in a viewer/editor the file "lists.fdx" -- make NOT to modify it/re-save it. We need to take some data from it. Rename each file "listX.fdl" to the name that appears in the lists.fdx file near the X number.
Example: if you have a "list4.fdl" look for a line in the fdx file that looks like this: <list name="New playlist" number="4" ...../> this means you found the line for this list. Take the data into the name tag "New playlist" and rename the "list4.fdl" file to "New playlist.fdl". You obviously need to do this for all the playlists that you have created.

- Samples -- nothing to do for this, just copy the files from the back without any modification (if you do have such a file)

- Settings -- move here/overwrite the files: "config.fdc", "config.fdk", "config.fdm", "fx_decka.ffx", "fx_deckb.ffx", "fx_master.ffx", "fx_mic.ffx"

- Skins -- you can copy your own skins directly here (the ones that are not distributed with FutureDecks in the setup file)

- Stripes -- nothing to do for this, just copy the files from the back without any modification

Once all of this is done you can run FutureDecks again. Everything should be in place as it should.
That's it

Thanks for the update!
Is there still a version with video, and without video?

@bitdevil: there will be an auto-update feature in the next major version
@Xenobase: no, there will be no more versions with/without video -- there will be a single version (the one with video) -- you can disable very easy the video features and they will not interfere with the audio features in any way

I also forgot to let you all know that the next version will be a major version release and it will take about 2-3 months for us to release it.
In the meantime only bug-fixes versions will be available and only if needed.

Can you give more info on what to expect in this release?
For example, skins that auto detect your screensize (A non static skin)?
Native build in VST effects from Xylio? Including an more advanced build in FX section for both decks?
4 Decks support?
More controllers supported (like the Vestax series and Reloop series, ánd the Xone series)?

We have to still decide the features that we will made, but there will definitely be major features like the ones you said.

The improvements in version 1.3.3 are amazing Vim. Congratulations !!! It's is very stable now. There is no crash after loading long files (more than 20 minutes). And latency is very low. The new EQ setup is a dream... After 12 hours of continuing use (auto-mix / manual) there is no problems at all. Your software seems to be solid as a rock now ! It's the first time I see so remarkable improvements in the stability Vim. Don't give up until making futuredecks Pro the more popular Dj software in the market.

well...i have been sticking by future decks for the past fewf years as i love the way it operates in general....the crashes were always triggered by something like mixing formats or big files...hoping this version will be the one i have been waiting for...no emergency backup cds needed anymore!

i am a regular dj on -snip- and often play out with futuredecks(mostly with no issues)

really noticeable change on this release is the vastly superior eqs ...i always avoided using them due to the harshness of the sweep in the past...now i'll be revisiting them with glee

thanks xylio....mixing breakbeats is an absolute joy with your rocksolid loop function and filters

ps. anyone know where i can get the best driver for bcd2000 /vista?

or any tips on using the cue function?
